Xuan was in the medical bay just checking over the cases for that day. They were looking forward to their break and checking their Thyroid cam to see what their skitterer was up to. Even though Thyroid was a mechanical pet and could be shut off when Xuan wasn't around, they liked keeping him on and watching the cam to see what he would do. Xuan's quarters had little toys for the skitterer to play with as well as a sort of netting on the wall that Thyroid could climb like a monkey. They were dressed in their Republic golds that day as a change of pace.

With the medical bay in a bit of a Quiet zone, Alanna was taking the time to sort the storeroom (again, sixth time this week). (edited)

Alin was also in the medical bay, looking over some of the files he'd accidentally deleted earlier that week. He couldn't remember looking over some of them, but then his memory wasn't infallible; he was just going over his work with some of people he worked with to see what could have been going on.

For once Eicran was here and not asleep in some corner - a rarity, really. It was the end of his shift and he was restocking his medical kit for use the next day. That included dismantling Alanna's newly reorganised things. Sorry!

Lt. JG. Alanna Hensley | MED BOT 20-Sep-25 02:08 PM
The thought of brutal murder for not keeping things organised had briefly crossed Alanna's mind, before she rightfully dismissed that notion as being absolutely insane. Instead, she walked over to the medical replicator to get more supplies.

Noticing Alanna replicating replacements for the equipment that he had just used, he hastily zipped up his kit bag and headed out the door. "Sorry," he said sheepishly as he crossed paths with Alanna, feeling guilty for making her redo her work.

Early-ish to her shift as usual, Victoria strode into the medbay already dressed in scrubs, PADD under one arm, tall thermos of coffee in her hand. Someone had been working on the stores, again, nothing new! Fortunately for them, she was only after a tri-corder for the moment, heading off to set up by her favourite biobed after dispensing her equipment.

The nurse was doing her due diligence, aiding Alanna in restocking some of the supplies. It was like a little conveyor belt! And nothing bad was happening.

Aria turned her gaze upward to the ceiling as the yellow alert rang out, a few servos in her mind whirring as she recalled the last time she was in the med bay during a yellow alert. Her eyes flicked toward the entrance, some part of her wondering if fog was about to roll in and send everyone beside her into the throes of fear once again. When that didn’t happen, she turned toward her fellow staff, “We are to standby in the event of potential injuries,” She announced, before tapping at her comms. (edited)

So far it had appeared that today was set to be a normal day, but living aboard 777 had taught him that you could never truly believe in normal days. Things loved to happen in Starfleet, and Starbase 777 wasn't immune from that curse. So much for the end of his shift (although he didn't mind). With a surge of energy from hearing the yellow alert, Eicran set about checking up on the status of current ED and minor injury patients to see if he could hasten forward some discharges. The more beds there were free, the more space they had for new patients. He took note of the Ensign giving instruction and requesting more information. Aria would make a good charge nurse, he noted.

If Aria could pale, she would’ve. She blinked in surprise, and small apertures in her eyes dilated. The ensign had suddenly become rather determined, but she was nevertheless an ensign. She turned her attention to Eicran, one of her senior officers, and tilted her head, “I am amending my previous statement. Are we to lock down the medical bay?” (edited)

"What if wounded come in that need treatment?" Alin asked in response, clearly sounding very worried. Arm yourselves? With what? He was a doctor, and a pacifist, he wasn't qualified for this.

Eicran had stopped short of where he was going to check up on a patient with an ankle injury. He quite literally halted mid-step, turned, and swiftly paced back to join Aria and Alin. Having overheard the comms, a change of plans was prudent as Aria said. "We should enact a partial lockdown," he stated, voice calm and level - for now. Action came first, panic later. "No one leaves, and anyone trying to enter has to come through the ED entrance. We'll have an armed team there to vet anyone coming through."

Didn't need to tell Victoria twice, she had begun searching for something big and metal and bat-like the moment the information arrived. It went without saying that this was just a tiny little bit more action than she wanted from any given shift - someone must've used the q-word. She set her PADD aside, abandoning her search for the moment, and wandered over to the group that was forming. "Did he say Romulan? What could they possibly want?"

Aria’s eyes shifted toward Alin for a moment. He did have a point, and she was uncertain as to how the medical team should proceed in such a situation. Her attention shifted from the psychiatrist, to Eicran, to Victoria. She had no idea what she was doing… “Understood,” She replied to Eicran, before giving a nod to Victoria, “Affirmative, Romulan. I am…uncertain.”

Before any actual armed team managed to arrive, the tenseness in the air was finally broken when the doors to sickbay opened, revealing a squad of Tal Shiar operatives led by none other than former CTO and Starfleet officer T'Shai. She fired her disruptor into the air to grab people's attention and then yelled out to the medical personnel, but almost in a tone that simultaneously elated and calculated at the same time. "Right! Hands up or I'll shoot you in the fucking face."

"For all we know, this could be some sort of test set up by the Romulan Republic and Starfleet Command. Maybe it's to see our emergency preparedness. Now come on, let's-" Of course they had been entirely too slow in getting anything done. Facing the ED doors, Eicran halted mid-speech as they slid open. That wasn't a patient, and they weren't wearing a Romulan Republic uniform. He raised both hands and took a tentative step forward in front of the other officers. He could almost feel his hands twitch, yearning for the familiar grip of a phaser or to at least be stood in front of the patients and visitors closest to the door. "Commander T'Shai?" He spoke, his voice steady but in no means harsh. It was calm, soft, calculated; the way you might talk down an animal that was poised to pounce at you. "I'd like to ask what the meaning of this is, but first - we have civilians, injured, and unwell here. Can we please... Take this elsewhere, maybe?" It was very dumb wording, but it was all he could think of doing. Step one: protect civilians and patients. Step two: protect other members of staff. Somehow.

As a big man, Alin stepped up behind Eicran, hands visible, but trying to shield the rest of the medical staff from T'Shai's view. He wasn't really a fighter, nor a protector, but he would do what he had to: he was a Klingon after all, he had thicker skin than most.

The android froze at the sound of the disruptor firing, and Aria could almost feel her voice modulator overcharge itself. It was as if a record skipped, the needle lifting up and causing an aggressive sound. Her mouth opened for a moment and a soft, garbled, “Eep!” escaped her. Her hands immediately raised upward, her eyes widening at the sight of who she believed to have been a member of Starfleet. Her eyes wandered over to Eicran. Aria had never witnessed combat, having only remained in the medical bay and never setting foot outside of the base during an away mission. She was reeling. “A-Affirmative, we are…w-we are medical staff,” She gave a little nod, her voice modulator glitching, “Allow us t-to continue with procedures.” (edited)

Victoria swung around, stepped back and brought her wrists up to her ears at the sound of disruptor fire, dropping her flask with a metallic THONK on the ground as she did. She raised her hands as demanded, after a few seconds when she recovered, though she tried to put as much of herself as she could behind the nearest biobed or solid object. "Hell of a drill," she muttered, still wide-eyed, to noone in particular.

Kemo pointed her disruptor at the medical officers. "Get them tied up, and make sure there's nobody hiding in the other rooms." The squad filed out, with a couple of them staying at the door. "Computer, Activate the EMH." A figure materialised in the middle of the room, combined with the introductory routine of "Please state the nature of the yada yada yada you get the idea. Kemo directed it to maintain any wounded while the actual medical personnel were tied up and forced into the corner.

One of the squadmembers came back in, with Alanna in front practically paralysed with terror. "Found this one in the storeroom, that should be everyone." The squadmember jabbed his disruptor into Alanna's back to push her onto the floor next to the other doctors. With that, Kemo pulled out her communicator and relayed a message to somewhere.

The android did not fight back, worried about potentially making all of this worse. She stumbled as she was pushed into the corner, her arms tied behind her back making it almost impossible for her to catch herself as she fell to her knees. She shifted to lean against the wall, her eyes wide with bewilderment. She stared at the situation at hand, before looking toward her medical team. She looked really scared.

So commander T'Shai didn't want to talk - or at least only talk to who appeared to be the real Tal Shiar. A diplomatic solution would have been nice as well. He thought perhaps Alin might have some wise words - he would be the best to de-escalate the situation. Anyone would have done a good job, really, except from himself and Alanna (who didn't really seem to talk at all, he had noticed). When the EMH flickered online there was a moment where he wondered about other settings. Did it have a tactical or security module? Would one hologram be able to take down the Tal Shiar squadron before they disabled it? It was unlikely, and he was pretty sure that if he even tried to give the Computer a command to swap out the EMH, that one of the officers now moving to the door would shoot. Focus, he told himself. 'Be a mako and not a nurse shark.' It was a line that had been given to him multiple times over the years. The only other option was to fight back, even unarmed. He waited for the Tal Shiar officers to spread out so they could apprehend the medics. With any luck, those guarding the door wouldn't be able to get a clean shot without risking hitting their comrades - and could they risk losing someone and then medics or patients fighting back? Probably not. Eicran breathed in, tensed; and as soon as he felt movement from behind trying to force his hands behind his back, he moved. In a swift motion he struck out, elbow to the assailant's sternum before straightening his arm to put his hand on their shoulder. Right foot hooking around the back of the Tal Shiar officer's ankle, he pushed backwards, aiming to knock them off balance and trip them up.

Victoria had initially been too stunned, still, by the disruptor fire going off in close proximity to do much of anything in reaction. But when her hearing returned just enough to register heavy boots making their way behind her, and she watched her colleague drop to her knees in fear, she finally found it within herself to do a little more than lay down and surrender. "Oh you guys reaaally suck-" she protested as she heard the first of Eicran's struggles begin. From her lowered, admittedly cowering position, she threw her entire weight, complete with a heaving grunt, into the leg of the officer that was attempting to raise her. Victoria didn't really know what she planned to achieve, but to bring at least this one down with her was a good as goal as she could set in the moment.

The officer, almost pleasantly surprised that the doctors of all people were putting up the most resistance, doubled back with a loud grunt (though managin to keep his feet on the ground). When Victoria brought the agent trying to tie her up to the ground, he landed on the floor - finally attracting the attention of one traitor CTO.

In one fluid motion, Kemo shot Eicran firmly in the stomach with a concussive blast, then moving her aim and hitting Victoria in a similar shot. "Take those two, as well as..." She walked past each tied up doctor with a strange glee in her eyes. "...You," She pointed at Aria... "...You," ...Then Alin. "...And You" Then Alanna. "Stun the rest, maximum knockout."

The officers who hadn't been hit went about tagging each person specified with a transporter marker, who all beamed away not long after. Next, the officers aimed their rifles towards the remaining doctors in unison, then fired a concussive blast to each of them simultaneously. With their welcome definitively overstayed, the group of Tal Shiar beamed away. Including Kemo, who was at long last beaming to a Tal Shiar vessel. (edited)
